NAAPD Praises Kogi Govt, Seeks Support on Revenue, Logistics
The Nigeria Association of Agricultural Product Dealers (NAAPD) has commended the Kogi State Government for providing security and improving the welfare of the people, while appealing for strategic support to improve its operations in the state.

The State Executive Body of NAAPD made this known on Wednesday, during a courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency Comrade Joel Salifu, at his official residence in Lokoja.

Speaking on behalf of the association, the State Coordinator, Omata Sunday, praised the current administration for its commitment to governance and the development of the state, particularly in the areas of security and the wellbeing of the people.

He stated that NAAPD is well aware of the government’s developmental strides and reiterated the association’s readiness to partner with the state in addressing issues of multiple taxation in the agricultural produce sector.

According to him, NAAPD is mandated to ensure that multiple taxations are either abolished or reduced to the barest minimum, while also supporting revenue generation across the agricultural value chain. He expressed confidence in the association’s capacity to effectively handle this responsibility in Kogi State if given the opportunity.

He added that the association is also equipped to help prevent revenue leakages, thereby boosting the state’s internally generated revenue.

While revealing some challenges, the group appealed to the state government for support in provision of office accommodation, operational vehicles, and security backup to enable them function more efficiently.

Responding, the Deputy Governor  commended the body for their organized structure and commitment to sanitizing the agricultural produce value chain.

He noted that the objectives of the association align with the policy direction of the Kogi State Government, particularly in the areas of revenue optimization, reduction of multiple taxation, and strengthening of agricultural productivity.

Comrade Joel Salifu stressed that the administration of Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo remains committed to creating an enabling environment for legitimate business activities to thrive, while also blocking leakages that undermine government revenue.

He further disclosed that the Commissioner for Agriculture and the Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service have attested to the genuineness and reliability of the association’s activities.
He assured the delegation that their request for partnership would be carefully reviewed in line with existing laws and policies guiding revenue generation in the state, adding that he would personally convey their message to the Governor for necessary consideration, support, and possible partnership.
