New Era for Kogi Civil Service as Head of Service Mrs Falilat Esq Visits Deputy Governor

In what signals a renewed drive toward efficiency and professionalism in Kogi State’s public service, the newly appointed Head of Service, Mrs. Falilat Musa Esq., on Tuesday paid a strategic courtesy visit to the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, at his office in Lokoja.
The visit, coming shortly after her appointment, was not merely ceremonial but revealed a deliberate move to foster collaboration at the highest levels of governance. Mrs. Musa said her mission was to formally notify the Deputy Governor of her assumption of office while also seeking his guidance and institutional support to reposition the state civil service for optimal performance.
Expressing deep appreciation to the state government for the trust reposed in her, the Head of Service pledged to deploy her vast administrative experience toward strengthening discipline, boosting morale, and entrenching professionalism across the civil service. She emphasized that a motivated and efficient workforce remains the backbone of effective governance.
Responding, Deputy Governor Comrade Joel Salifu described her appointment as both "timely and well-deserved", noting that it comes with "heightened responsibility in advancing the administration’s development agenda" He reaffirmed the unwavering support of the government, urging her to build strong synergy with key stakeholders to drive reforms that will enhance service delivery across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
He further highlighted integrity, dedication, and accountability as indispensable values for any successful public service, stressing that the effectiveness of government policies largely hinges on the strength and responsiveness of the civil service.
In a moment that reflected her leadership style, Mrs. Musa also addressed staff of the Deputy Governor’s office, commending their impressive turnout despite the unscheduled nature of her visit. She encouraged them to sustain the commitment and diligence, noting that such dedication brings honor not only to individuals but to the state at large.
The Head of Service also lauded Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for prioritizing the welfare of civil servants, assuring workers that the current administration remains committed to improved welfare packages and a more rewarding work environment.
The permanent Secretary in the office of Deputy Governor Mal. Haruna Sanni said that the visit marks a strong start for Mrs. Musa’s tenure, setting a tone of collaboration, accountability, and renewed hope for a more vibrant Kogi State civil service.
