Gov Ododo Pays Condolence Visit, Assures Support for Accident Victims in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has paid a condolence visit to families of those who lost their lives in a tragic motor accident that occurred along the Lokoja–Okene Road, while also visiting survivors receiving treatment in various hospitals in the state capital.
The accident, which occurred shortly after activities marking the 2025 International Day of Persons with Disabilities, claimed the lives of six persons and left thirteen others with varying degrees of injuries. The victims were passengers in a bus conveying participants who were returning from a programme organized by the Office of the First Lady.
During the visit to the bereaved families, Governor Ododo expressed deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident, describing the loss as painful and devastating not only to the affected families but to the entire state. He prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed souls and asked God to grant the families the strength to bear the irreparable loss.
The Governor also visited the injured victims at the hospital, where he sympathized with them and assured them of the government’s full support toward their medical recovery. He directed health officials to ensure that the victims receive the best possible medical attention without any financial burden on their families.
In a statement issued by the Kogi State Government, it was announced that the state has taken full responsibility for the treatment of all injured persons and has deployed relevant officials to provide continuous support to both the survivors and families of the deceased.
“The loss of any Kogite is a loss to us all. The government stands firmly with the affected families and communities during this difficult time,” the statement read.
Governor Ododo further called on the people of the state to remain united in prayer for the quick recovery of the injured and the comfort of the bereaved families, even as the state mourns the painful tragedy.
