APC Convention to Showcase Unity, Discipline – Information Minister
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, says the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) National Convention will demonstrate unity, discipline, and a shared commitment to Nigeria’s progress.

Speaking in Abuja at the inauguration of the Media and Publicity Subcommittee for the 2026 APC National Convention, the Minister described the event as a major milestone for the ruling party’s internal democracy and national vision.

“The upcoming national convention provides the party with an opportunity to demonstrate unity, discipline, and a shared commitment to national progress,” Idris said.

Idris, who serves as Co-Chairman of the subcommittee, noted that the convention will further strengthen the party’s cohesion and consolidate its vision for a united, prosperous, and progressive Nigeria.

Addressing participants virtually from the United Kingdom, he highlighted ongoing reforms under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the administration is focused on repositioning Nigeria for sustainable growth and long-term development through the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The Minister emphasized the critical role of communication in the success of major political events.
“The responsibility entrusted to this committee is both strategic and vital. The success of any major political event depends greatly on how effectively its message is communicated to the public,” he said.

He explained that the Media and Publicity Subcommittee’s role extends beyond routine publicity, stressing that members are expected to ensure accurate dissemination of information, promote transparency, coordinate media engagement, and project the convention’s processes and outcomes to Nigerians and the international community.

Outlining the committee’s responsibilities, Idris listed content creation, media relations, media planning and buying, liaison with other subcommittees, documentation, media monitoring, performance evaluation, and reporting across print and audio-visual platforms.

He urged members to approach their assignment with professionalism and dedication to ensure widespread positive coverage of the convention.

“I therefore encourage members to approach this assignment with utmost professionalism, creativity, and a strong sense of duty. By leveraging media platforms within our reach, we must ensure that the convention is widely and positively covered, while upholding the highest standards of credibility and integrity,” he said.

The Minister congratulated members of the subcommittee on their appointment, expressing confidence in their expertise to deliver on the assignment, before formally inaugurating the committee.

Meanwhile, the special adviser on media to the Kogi State Governor, Ismaila Isah has been appointed as Chairman of the Content Creation Working Group and Secretary of the Media Monitoring and Performance Evaluation Working Group of the Media and Publicity subcommittee for the APC National Convention.

The APC National Convention is scheduled to hold from March 27 to 28, 2026 at the Eagle Square in Abuja.
