The hall of Comprehensive Secondary School, Ajaokuta, was agog today as the community gathered for a landmark event celebrating good governance and purposeful representation.

The event brought together the Honourable Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Abanika Taiye, and the Member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulraheem Sani Egidi. It featured an award presentation and a showcase of grassroots development achievements.

Hon. Abanika Taiye was conferred with multiple awards of excellence and integrity by three notable bodies: the Institute for Leadership Development and Good Governance, the Africa International Hall of Fame and the Presidency West African Youth Council.

The awards recognized his sustained contributions to leadership, integrity in public service, and his impact on housing and urban development in Kogi State.

The ceremony also highlighted the achievements of Hon. Abdulraheem Sani Egidi. His tenure has been marked by tangible interventions across key sectors, including educational support programmes, provision of water projects in communities, construction of school structures, job creation for constituents, medical interventions and healthcare support, road construction and rehabilitation, empowerment programmes for men and women, and sustained advocacy for the completion of the Ajaokuta Steel Complex.

Residents, community leaders, and non-indigenes took turns to testify to the impact of these interventions on their lives and livelihoods, commending the lawmaker for his people-oriented approach to representation.

In his remarks, Hon. Egidi reaffirmed his commitment to the continued development of the constituency. He pledged to do more in the areas of infrastructure, education, healthcare, and empowerment. In response, constituents and community representatives pledged their continued support and endorsed him for another term in office.

The event drew dignitaries, including the Acting Permanent Secretary, Directors, and staff of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development, alongside community leaders, youth and women groups, and residents from across Ajaokuta Federal Constituency.
