Governor Ododo Pays Tribute to Predecessor, Yahaya Bello, as He Ushers in the New Year

Kogi State Governor, His Excellency Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has paid glowing tribute to his predecessor and mentor, former Governor Yahaya Bello CON, describing him as a pillar of strength, courage, and purposeful leadership whose legacy continues to shape governance in the state.
In a New Year message filled with gratitude and reverence, Governor Ododo thanked Almighty God for preserving the former governor, whom he described as a constant source of guidance and inspiration to many leaders who had the privilege of serving under his administration.
Reflecting on Yahaya Bello’s tenure as Governor, Ododo noted that his leadership laid a solid foundation of reform, discipline, and fearless governance in Kogi State. According to him, the values instilled during that period loyalty, courage, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to the progress of the state remain central to the current administration’s approach to governance.
Governor Ododo, who acknowledged benefitting immensely from Bello’s mentorship, expressed deep appreciation for the trust and confidence reposed in him by his predecessor. He said that the opportunity to serve under Bello’s leadership prepared him for the responsibility he now bears as Governor and continues to remind him of the need to lead with integrity, firmness, and compassion in the interest of the people of Kogi State.
As the state and nation step into the New Year, the Governor offered prayers for his predecessor, asking God to grant him continued good health, wisdom, peace, and fulfillment. He emphasized that Bello’s voice, experience, and leadership remain invaluable assets to Kogi State and Nigeria at large.
Governor Ododo concluded by reaffirming his highest esteem and appreciation for the former Governor, describing him not only as a leader but as a mentor whose influence remains deeply rooted in the ongoing journey of governance and development in Kogi State.
